What We’re Known For
Lockhart Apiaries has been pollinating for the low bush blueberry and apple industry for over 30 years. It has been proven through research that having honey bee colonies in blueberry fields and apple orchards that crop yields increase significantly. We maintain strong healthy hives and are very familiar with optimal colony strength to pollinate crops very efficiently.
Blueberries
Wild blueberries have become New Brunswick’s largest grown crop. Each season New Brunswick has 18,000 acres of blueberry fields that need to be pollinated.
Transportation
We are fully equipped to move our own colonies to pollination locations. Beehives are typically moved during the night when the bees aren’t flying.
Apples
The apple industry has grown significantly in New Brunswick in recent years. Apple tree pollination season is typically just before blueberry pollination toward the end of May.
